The CESSDA Webinar by the title "The GDPR and research one year on: experiences across Europe" will take place on Thursday 27 June 2019 - 15:00CEST. The event is organised by two SSHOC collaborating organisations: GESIS, the Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences and NSD, the Norwegian Centre for Research Data, which are also part of the extensive network of the SSHOC's coordinator CESSDA.

Data protection experts from across Europe will give their views on what changes the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) brought for research, data archiving and data sharing and how researchers and institutions have implemented the GDPR. Brief presentations will be followed by an interactive panel discussion responding to questions from the audience.

One year since the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), what changes did it bring for research, data archiving and data sharing? How have researchers and institutions implemented the GDPR? Are there differences between countries? Are you as a researcher confused about how to apply the GDPR in practice in your research? And how is the GDPR applied in practice in cross-national collaborative projects?

A panel of data protection specialists from the CESSDA network will share their experiences with the GDPR implementation, point to practical guidance, and will answer all your questions. Brief presentations will be followed by an interactive panel discussion. Questions can be presented to the panel in advance of the webinar, via training@cessda.eu, or during the webinar.

Panelists:

Oliver Watteler, GESIS - Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences, Germany

Scott Summers, Lecturer Business Law, University of East Anglia, UK

Marlon Domingus, Data Protection Officer, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands

Anne-Mette Somby, Special Adviser Data Protection Services, Norwegian Centre for Research Data, Norway
